Michael Hunt, Principal
About Mr. Hunt
Mr. Michael Hunt is entering his ninth year at Horn Elementary and his second year as Principal. Having served as a classroom teacher, Teacher Specialist, Assistant Principal, and now Principal, he brings a deep understanding of Horn’s traditions, values, and commitment to excellence. Over the years, he has had the privilege of growing alongside the Horn community while helping shape the instructional systems, leadership structures, and culture that support student success.
Originally from Virginia, Mr. Hunt earned his Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction: Elementary Education from George Mason University and later completed his Principal Certification through the University of Houston. He holds a Texas Principal as Instructional Leader EC–12 certification and has extensive experience in elementary instruction, leadership development, instructional coaching, and school improvement.
Mr. Hunt joined Horn Elementary in 2018 as a 5th-grade Reading and Social Studies teacher. During his four years in the classroom, he served as a grade-level leader, mentor teacher, and advocate for innovative learning experiences that promoted critical thinking, student engagement, and academic growth. He later served as a Teacher Specialist, where he created and led Horn Academy, the campus’s professional learning program designed to support new teachers and strengthen instructional practice. Following two years as a Teacher Specialist and one year as Assistant Principal, he was named Principal in 2025.
As Principal, Mr. Hunt is committed to building a culture of excellence where students, staff, and families thrive. Under his leadership, Horn Elementary increased its district Instructional Review Team (IRT) score by 53% in a single school year while strengthening instructional practices and academic outcomes across the campus. He is passionate about instructional rigor, teacher coaching and development, leadership cultivation, project-based learning, strategic planning, and creating systems that ensure every student has access to high-quality learning experiences.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hunt has been recognized for his commitment to educational excellence and leadership. He was named a Finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Award and selected as a Cahn Fellowship Ally. He received George Mason University’s Exemplary Early Career Teacher Award for his instructional effectiveness, service, and positive impact on students and school communities. He has also presented at district, state, and national conferences on topics including literacy, mathematics, inquiry-based learning, and instructional best practices.
Mr. Hunt believes that exceptional schools are built through strong relationships, high expectations, continuous learning, and a shared commitment to student success. He is dedicated to developing future leaders, supporting teacher growth, fostering innovation, and ensuring every Horn student is challenged, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. Together with Horn’s outstanding staff and supportive families, he remains committed to continuing the school’s tradition of excellence and preparing students for success both in and beyond the classroom.
Dijla Formaro, Assisstant Principal
About Ms. Formaro
Ms. Dijla Formaro joins Horn Elementary from Katy ISD as an instructional leader entering her thirteenth year in education. Dedicated to fostering academic excellence and empowering both students and educators, she is passionate about creating engaging and equitable learning environments where every child is known, inspired, and challenged to realize their fullest potential. She is committed to cultivating meaningful relationships that inspire students, empower educators, and foster collaborative partnerships with families.
Originally from New Jersey, she has proudly called Texas home since 2013. Ms. Formaro earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Psychology and Education, with a concentration in Special Education, from Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey. She later earned her Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership with Principal Certification from the University of Houston–Clear Lake. Her Texas educator certifications include Principal, Generalist, Special Education, English as a Second Language, and Science of Teaching Reading.
Throughout her career, Ms. Formaro has served in numerous leadership capacities, including Acting Administrator, Special Education Case Manager, SPED Team Leader, and Math Lead Teacher. Her experience includes developing and strengthening campus-wide systems that support both students and educators through MTSS and PBIS implementation, ARD facilitation and compliance, special education systems development and design, behavioral intervention systems, instructional coaching, and teacher professional development. She has successfully led special education teams across multiple grade levels and units and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to create equitable and meaningful learning experiences for all students. Her work has centered not only on supporting individual learners, but also on building sustainable systems that promote long-term student success and empower educators to do their very best work.
The proud mother of four amazing children—two sons and two daughters—Ms. Formaro considers motherhood her greatest and most meaningful leadership experience. Her children are now thriving adults whose unique gifts, personalities, and journeys have deepened her appreciation for the profound influence educators have on young lives. This perspective continues to shape her approach to education and strengthen her belief that every child deserves to be seen, challenged, and empowered to discover not only what they can achieve, but who they are capable of becoming.

Sarah Abouelnasr, Teacher Specialist
About Mrs. Abouelnasr
I am truly honored and excited to serve our school community as a Teacher Specialist for the 2026–2027 school year.
My journey in education began over ten years ago with a passion for helping children learn, grow, and discover their potential. Along the way, I gained three years of administrative experience in a private school setting before finding my home at Horn Elementary, where I have proudly taught 5th Grade Science and Social Studies for the past four years.
My educational background is unique and has shaped my perspective as an educator. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry from Ain Shams University in Egypt, later pursued my calling in education, and obtained my Texas Teaching Certification in Science (Grades 4–8). I am currently working toward a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Principal Certification through Lamar University.
Throughout my career, I have been passionate about creating engaging learning experiences that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and student ownership of learning. I believe every child deserves opportunities to explore their strengths, discover new interests, and achieve success in a supportive and challenging environment. By using data-informed practices and differentiated instruction, I strive to ensure that all students receive the tools and support they need to reach their full potential.
As a member of the Horn leadership team, my goal is to support and empower our exceptional teachers while helping foster a positive school culture where every student, staff member, and family feels valued and respected. I am deeply committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that nurtures not only academic growth but also emotional well-being and character development.
I firmly believe that strong partnerships between school and home are essential to student success. Open communication, collaboration, and trust are at the heart of everything we do, and I look forward to working closely with our dedicated staff, supportive families, and outstanding PTO to ensure every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to learn.

Donovan Decuir, Teacher Specialist

I am truly honored and blessed to serve at Horn Elementary as Teacher Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year.
It is my pleasure to share a professional summary of my 21‑year career in education—a journey defined by service, instructional leadership, and a deep commitment to student success. Throughout my time in Houston ISD, I have had the privilege of serving in multiple roles that have strengthened my expertise, broadened my impact, and deepened my passion for supporting both students and educators.
For 13 years, I served as a classroom teacher, teaching and coaching across all elementary grade levels. Mathematics has always been my strongest area of expertise, and I have consistently led or supported the math department throughout my career. My instructional approach centers on clarity, engagement, and data‑driven decision‑making, ensuring that students not only learn content but develop confidence in their abilities.
I later transitioned into campus leadership, serving six years as a Teacher Specialist at Milne Elementary and two years as an Assistant Principal. In these roles, I oversaw several critical programs, including Gifted & Talented, Section 504, IAT/RTI, Special Education, campus safety, and textbook management. I conducted teacher appraisals, provided targeted coaching and feedback, and facilitated Professional Learning Communities focused on instructional improvement and compliance. Additionally, I designed and delivered numerous professional development sessions that supported teachers in strengthening instructional practices and meeting district and state expectations.
Throughout my leadership journey, I have become known for my ability to multi‑task effectively while maintaining a calm, solutions‑oriented approach. Whether managing multiple programs, supporting teachers, or responding to campus needs, I consistently demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills that help move work forward efficiently and thoughtfully. I thrive in fast‑paced environments and excel at prioritizing tasks without losing sight of the people and purpose behind the work.
Across all positions, I have been known for building strong relationships, fostering collaboration, and creating environments where students and staff feel supported, valued, and empowered. Whether leading campus initiatives, guiding instructional teams, or stepping into full campus leadership in the principal’s absence, I bring a steady, student‑centered approach to every responsibility.
I am proud of the work I have accomplished and remain committed to serving schools and communities with excellence, integrity, and heart. I am always ready to step in and support wherever needed. I’m a people‑centered leader who brings flexibility, collaboration, and a strong team‑focused mindset to every situation.
Nicole McAdams, Teacher Specialist
About Mrs. McAdams
I am grateful to serve as a Teacher Specialist at Horn Elementary, a school that has been my professional home for more than a decade. Having spent thirteen years in the classroom at Horn, I deeply value the relationships, traditions, and commitment to excellence that make this community so special. In my current role, I have the privilege of supporting teachers as they continue to grow in their craft, helping ensure that every student receives engaging, meaningful instruction and the support they need to thrive. I also serve as the Campus Gifted and Talented (GT) Coordinator and oversee the At-Risk Student Monitoring System, Writing Instructional Priorities, Professional Development, and Enrichment Program Support.
Teaching is my second career and my true passion. I began my educational journey teaching fourth grade at a Title I school, where I spent three years developing a deep appreciation for the impact that strong relationships, high expectations, and effective instruction can have on student success. In 2012, I joined the Horn Elementary family as a third-grade teacher and spent thirteen wonderful years in the classroom. Those years allowed me to build meaningful partnerships with students, families, and colleagues while helping students develop both academically and personally. I am now in my second year as a Teacher Specialist and feel fortunate to continue serving the Horn community in a leadership capacity.
I am a proud Houston native and earned my degree from The University of Texas at Austin…Hook ’em Horns! I hold certifications in English as a Second Language (ESL) and Gifted and Talented (GT) education and have completed the Texas Reading Academies.
My leadership philosophy is grounded in the belief that when educators feel supported, valued, and empowered, students thrive. I strive to foster a culture of collaboration, continuous growth, and shared responsibility where every teacher is equipped to do their best work and every student is challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. I believe strong schools are built through positive relationships, high expectations, and a commitment to doing what is best for students every day.
