Dear Horn Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year at Horn Elementary!

As I begin my second year as Principal of Horn, I am filled with gratitude, pride, and excitement for what lies ahead. Serving this incredible community is truly an honor and a full-circle journey for me. Over the past nine years, I have had the privilege of serving Horn as a 5th-grade teacher, Teacher Specialist, Assistant Principal, and Principal. Horn is more than the place where I work—it is home. This community has shaped me both professionally and personally, and I am grateful every day for the opportunity to serve our students, families, and staff.

To our returning families, welcome back! To those joining the Horn family for the first time, we are thrilled to have you with us. Horn is a special place built on strong relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to ensuring every child thrives.

As we look ahead to the 2026–2027 school year, our focus remains clear: providing every student with engaging, rigorous, and meaningful learning experiences that prepare them for success both inside and outside the classroom.

This year, our key instructional priorities include:

  • Deepening the implementation of Gold Standard Project-Based Learning (PBL) across all grade levels to provide students with authentic, real-world learning experiences that foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
  • Strengthening writing instruction across all content areas so students develop the communication skills necessary to think deeply, articulate their ideas, and become confident writers.
  • Expanding our implementation of Compacted Math to ensure all students are challenged appropriately and provided opportunities for accelerated growth and advanced problem-solving.
  • Increasing instructional rigor through high-quality teaching practices that promote student discourse, critical thinking, productive struggle, and deeper learning.

These priorities are grounded in our commitment to academic excellence and our belief that every child deserves access to engaging, challenging, and meaningful learning opportunities.

At Horn, we know that student success is built through strong partnerships between home and school. We deeply value the trust you place in us each day and recognize the important role families play in supporting learning. Whether through volunteering, attending school events, participating in PTO, or simply encouraging your child at home, your partnership makes a tremendous difference.

My leadership philosophy remains rooted in visibility, accessibility, and collaboration. I believe that strong schools are built on strong relationships, and I maintain an open-door policy for students, staff, and families alike. I welcome your questions, ideas, celebrations, and feedback as we work together to make Horn the very best it can be.

As we begin another exciting year, I am confident that our students will continue to grow academically, socially, and emotionally while reaching new heights of achievement. Together, we'll build on Horn's tradition of excellence and create new opportunities for learning and growth.
